The completion of the market research for the „ Bridge Vehicle“ project

On June 1, 2018, the Market Research and Analysis Department of the Armaments and Acquisition Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic completed the process of market research for the upcoming “Bridge Vehicle” project. The aim of the project is the purchase of new bridge vehicles for the engineers of the Army of the Czech Republic, supposing that the new vehicles will replace the existing AM-50 bridge vehicles, which are already morally and technically obsolete being in service of the Czech Army already since the mid 1970s.

In order to obtain information for the realization of the market research, a total of 10 companies from the Czech and foreign defence and security industries were addressed in the form of RFI ("Request for Information"). Finally, 4 companies actively participated in the market research itself.

The preparation of a comprehensive overview of the possibilities for solving of the acquisition provided the basis documents taking into account a technical point of view, including the requirement for training of engineering specialists, proposals of spare parts sets and training simulators, as well as time and financial considerations, including a rough estimate of life cycle costs. The information received will be fully used for the decision-making of the top management of the Ministry of Defence and the subsequent launching of the own phase of the acquisition process for the replacement of obsolete AM-50 bridge vehicles.
